Wind Turbine Borescope Inspection

An innovative company is taking power generation to new heights with wind power. They believe clean energy doesn’t have to be expensive so they’ve been building wind farms that can produce energy more cost effectively than fossil fuels. Wind turbines have a lifespan of about 20 years, and require periodic inspections to achieve this longevity. The company recently purchased a 3.9mm x 3.0m borescope, the VJ-Advance (VJ-ADV) articulating video borescope to inspect the wind turbines. These inspections can reveal hairline cracks, corrosion, pitting, rubbing and other defects. The VJ-ADV allows maintenance technicians to inspect gearboxes, blades and all parts of the wind turbine that are not easily accessible.
